There exists a number of drafts and blueprints for the final product your wedding guests will witness. It shall be a lavish and aesthetic event for one to attend. However, it is a dream come true for the bride, groom, and their families. Hence, one needs to cover the nitty-gritty of days leading to the big event to avoid dubiety and ignorance in the middle of celebrations.

The pre-wedding, wedding day and post-wedding preparations are all about an extensive to-be-ticked list. But the most integral component is the selection of the wedding venue. In the latest article titled “The importance of planning” published in 56-year-old New Orleans Magazine, Kelly Massicot shares the top tasks to tick off your wedding list.

Now, this process usually goes in two ways. First, you already have a dream venue in mind or a special place of emotional value, making the venue pre-decided before the wedding itself. And second, you need to go through a list of potential wedding venues to select the one suited to your taste and budget.

In the latest article titled “The importance of planning” published in 56-year-old New Orleans Magazine, Kelly Massicot shares the top tasks to tick off your wedding list. Massicot and her “Let them eat cake” editor Melanie Warner Spencer both agree that the selection and booking of your wedding venue should be on the top of your list. The author further emphasizes the importance of wedding venue selection as it “really set(s) the tone for a wedding”. When researching your potential venues, keep in mind the theme you want for your wedding, would a hotel fit better or a farmhouse is a better option? It certainly would save you time and effort to locate your final venue.

Certain questions are evident to ask while considering a list of venues. Questions such as “Is the venue available on the wedding date?”, “Modes of payment that you accept?”, “Who will be the point of contact on our wedding day?”, “How many guests can this venue accommodate?”, “How much is the booking deposit?”, “What are the parking facilities at the venue?”, “What is the cancellation policy” and “How many hours are included in the rental of the space?” are must and cannot be forgotten while identifying a venue. Here we shall provide you with questions that can slip your mind and can lead to a cumbersome celebration.

So, without further delay, here are 5 questions you need to ask before booking your dream venue-

What is the final day on which they can accept any changes to your reservation?

After all the venue pre-booking and deposits, you realize that your aunt is allergic to a particular flower or that your best friend cannot have lactose food preparations. It is important to talk to your vendor during the booking process and get the information as to the last day they shall accept changes.

Do they allow the bride, groom, and their families to bring pets? If yes, are pets allowed in the rooms?

For many animal lovers, it is not just the idea of having a pet that they love. People consider their pets a part of their family and have them very close to their hearts. Hence, as obvious as it can be, they would like their little furry pet to be a part of their special day. If the venue is not pet friendly, there is no point in further discussion.

What would be the backup plan for an outdoor wedding in unpredictable weather?

A trend that has become a rage is hosting an outdoor wedding. And it's mostly for the vibe, theme, and space. A wedding under the sky or stars is something just out of a movie. However, be prepared for anything. Ask your vendors how they manage in case of uncooperative weather turns up. Knowing your vendors to make alternate arrangements keeps you from developing additional anxiety.

Is their venue handicap friendly?

If you have a family or friend with limited mobility, having a wheelchair-accessible venue is a must. The goal is to have everyone from your guest list have a memorable time at your wedding and create memories with you. Is the bathroom’s location accessible with wheelchairs? Are ramps provided for ease? Is there enough room for guests to move around in wheelchairs?

Is it necessary to employ in-house caterers?

If yes, then you don’t have to further probe into the matter. In case the in-caterer option is not mandatory, ask your vendor to provide a list of recommendations for wedding caterers. A venue-experienced vendor shall know the challenges and advantages of the selected space, making your process a hassle-free one.
